The order suspending associate professor at the Central University of Jharkhand Shreya Bhattacharji, served on her two days ago was recalled on Thursday by vice-chancellor Nand Kumar Yadav following the recommendations of a fact-finding committee. A new order issued on Thursday posted on the website of the university, has directed Ms. Bhattacharji, associate professor at the Centre of English Language, to resume her responsibilities with immediate effect.

It may be recalled that Ms. Bhattacharji was suspended by Mr. Yadav for inviting M.N. Panini, retired professor at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, to deliver a lecture on March 19, 2016, to mark the 140th anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel. Mr. Yadav had cancelled Mr. Panini’s lecture at the last minute, following some smses and emails that forbade him to go ahead with the event. Mr. Yadav had also accused Ms. Bhattacharji of keeping him in the dark about not sharing the academic credentials of Mr. Panini. It appeared that Mr. Panini’s association with the JNU was enough for the vice-chancellor to cancel the event.
