Vikramaditya Singh Judev, scion of the Jashpur royal family, allegedly ran his vehicle over a teacher following a land dispute in Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh on Monday.
“Barmeshwar Prasad Gupta, a teacher of a local school has complained that Vikramaditya Singh Judev ran his sports utility vehicle over him on Monday. The victim is in a hospital. His condition is stable now, according to doctors,” Jashpur Superintendent of Police G.S. Jayaswal said.
The police have lodged a complaint of attempt to murder against the royal scion, who is on the run, the SP added.
Vikramaditya is the younger brother of BJP Rajya Sabha MP Ranvijay Singh Judev and nephew of former BJP politician Dilip Singh Judev.
This is not the first instance of Vikramaditya’s rash behaviour. “He already has two criminal cases related to abduction. This is the third criminal case against him,” said Mr. Jayaswal.
The police have declared a reward of Rs. 5,000 for anyone who provides information about Vikramaditya.
An angry crowd gathered in front of the royal palace and threw stones.
Jashpur observed a bandh on Tuesday in protest. According to some residents, this was the first instance of protest against the royal family.
