National Conference working president Omar Abdullah on Sunday ruled out any alliance with the BJP and questioned the silence maintained by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its ally, BJP, over government formation in the State.

‘Will not ally with BJP’

“We have closed the doors on the BJP. There is no chance of any alliance with the saffron party,” he said, inaugurating a cricket tournament in Jammu.

As for PDP president Mehbooba Mufti’s fresh demands over government formation, Mr. Abdullah said: “We want to know the confidence-building measures she has asked the Government of India to initiate. She should disclose the timeframe for their implementation…”

He asked Ms. Mufti “to be bold enough to snap the ties [with the BJP].” “We will go back to the people, but I am unable to understand the way of their leadership,” he said.

Jammu and Kashmir has been under the Governor’s rule since January 9 after the death of Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed on January 7.
