The founder-chairman of Infosys, N.R. Narayana Murthy, on Tuesday gave a positive response to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's offer to associate himself with the proposed Incubation Centre for Youths and has also expressed his desire to set up a research centre of the Infosys in the State.
Mr. Murthy, who was here to deliver the convocation address of the American University in Ahmedabad, called on the Chief Minister here on Tuesday and discussed various programmes of the State government.
Mr. Modi gave him a detailed outline of the State government's proposal to set up the world class “Incubation centre for Youths,” a new initiative to prepare the younger generation in the fields of human resource and other developmental activities. An official spokesman of the State government claimed that Mr. Murthy was highly impressed with the proposal and gave a positive response, but said that considering his tight schedule he was not sure how much [time] he would be able to devote to the programme. “I will discuss it with the State government after a detailed proposal about the Incubation Centre is received,” Mr. Murthy said.
The Infosys founder was happy to see other initiatives taken up by the State government in educational and other fields, by setting up several unique institutions like the Forensic Sciences University, Raksha Shakti University on defence and security technologies, Petroleum University, Teachers' University, Sanskrit University, Kamdhenu University on dairy technology, and several others.
He told the Chief Minister that considering the future prospects of the knowledge in economics, science and technology, the initiatives taken up by the State government would go a long way in arming the youth of the State and the country to face future challenges, the spokesman said.
