Four police teams have been set up to work out the Bharatiya Janata Party leader, Vijay Pandit’s murder in Dadri in Gautam Buddh Nagar district. Mr. Pandey was gunned down by four unidentified assailants on Saturday.
No arrests have been made in the case even though several persons were detained by the police for interrogation and then let off.
While one team has been constituted at the Dadri police station level, another team has been constituted by the Crime Branch of the Gautam Buddh Nagar district police. The Special Task Force (STF) has also been pressed into service and a fourth team has been constituted by the SSP of Bulandshahr.
The State IG (Law and Order), Amrendra Kumar Sengar, said here on Monday that the police is working on several clues and is hopeful of the case being worked out soon. “Crucial leads and inputs have been gathered,” the IG said. Mr. Sengar told reporters that several persons have been interrogated.
SSP visits Sadatganj
Meanwhile, the new SSP of Badaun, L R Kumar, visited Katra Sadatganj village and met the family members of the two minor girls who were reportedly gangraped and killed on the night of May 27 and 28. Reports said that the girls’ family members had staged a dharna in the village in protest against the official apathy and the alleged attempts to derail the probe. Mr. Sengar said talks between the Budaun SSP and the victims’ relatives were on and investigations are underway.
The State Government on Monday suspended the former Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) of Aligarh, Asha Ram Yadav for his failure to control crime. Mr. Sengar said a departmental inquiry has been ordered against Mr. Yadav and he would be attached to the DG Police headquarters in the State capital.
