A local court has issued notices against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and three others Samajwadi Party leaders and directed them to appear on September 22 in a case of alleged model code of conduct violation during the Assembly elections in 2007.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Jitender Kumar issued summons against Akhilesh, U.P. Minister Shahid Akhlak, the then SP candidate Pramode Tyagi and SP leader Rajkumar, asking them to appear before him.
On the direction of the Election Commission, the police had registered a case against Akhilesh, Akhlak, Tyagi as well as other SP leaders Sanjay Singh and Rajkumar under Section 171 IPC at Khatoli town here on September 1, 2007, according to prosecution.
It was alleged that Akhilesh, who had campaigned in Khatoli in support of Tyagi, had come with a large cavalcade in violation of rules.
The court on Monday asked the Chief Minister and others to appear on September 22.
Meanwhile, Akhilesh Yadav on Monday launched the ‘multilingual intelligent search and analytics solution’ for UP Vidhan Sabha under which the digitisation of proceedings of last 25 years has been done.
“Only technology could deal with problems of corruption, governance and bring transparency,” he said.
He said all the proceedings of Vidhan Sabha would be made available online for common man after completion of digitisation work.
He said the State was ahead in a lot of works and asked the media to help in changing the perception about Uttar Pradesh by highlighting the good works done by the government.
Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey said under the first phase, digitisation of proceedings of 25 years has been done and in the second phase there is a plan to digitise proceedings up to 1952, when the first Assembly was constituted.
