Border Security Force personnel deployed at Litan, Heirok, in Thoubal district recovered one 9mm pistol, eight rounds of ammunition and a lethod bomb at a river bank on Saturday.
Police has registered a case, but no arrest has been made so far.
Villagers had informed the BSF personnel that some strangers had buried a plastic packet there. The BSF personnel cordoned off the area for an intensive search. Officials said that the arms were meant to browbeat the people to extort easy money, taking advantage of the fear psychosis in this insurgency-affected state.
