A powerful bomb fitted in a car was found on Friday in the parking lot of the Manipur Raj Bhavan and it was defused later, official sources said.

The car was reportedly parked this morning, the sources said, adding whether its number plate was genuine or not is yet to be ascertained.

Police were trying to find out how the car entered the Raj Bhavan, a heavily guarded area, they said.

The car was towed away and the bomb was defused at the Manipur Police Training Centre at Pangei later.

No individual or group has claimed responsibility for the incident so far.
