Army Chief General Bikram Singh on Saturday had a detailed discussion with Governor Narendra Nath Vohra on the security of Jammu and Kashmir. They discussed the improvement in the State following skirmishes on the Line of Control and the International Border.

General Singh, who was accompanied at the Raj Bhawan meeting by the General officer Commanding-in-Chief Northern Command Lt General Sanjiv Chachra, briefed the Governor about the obtaining security scenario, some recent incidents of the November 2003 ceasefire along the LoC and the IB and the Army’s preparedness to deal with any emerging situation.

Sources said the Army chief and the Governor were happy over some “positive vibes” from the Pakistani Army and Rangers, including some flag meetings on the LoC during the current month.

However, they were concerned over some recent infiltrations through Baramulla and Kupwara districts of the Kashmir Valley.
