Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has condemned the forcible eviction of yoga guru Baba Ramdev and his supporters in New Delhi.

Mr. Chauhan termed the Central government's action an attack on democracy. The “barbaric” eviction was reminiscent of similar “knee-jerk” actions taken during the Emergency.

The Centre seemed to be scared after being cornered on black money and corruption. The entire nation watched the government's crushing of a peaceful movement, he pointed out.

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad held demonstrations here by blocking roads and raising slogans against the UPA government. They also burned effigies of the government and of AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh.
