Amit Shah, Uma Bharti confer with RSS brass

BJP president Amit Shah and Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti on Friday called on Mohan Bhagwat and other top RSS functionaries in Kutch, Gujarat where the organisation is holding a workshop for pracharaks.

Mr. Shah’s meeting with the Sangh supremo Mohan Bhagwant and RSS general secretary Bhaiyyaji Joshi assumes significance, as he has emerged as the prime target of BJP veterans led by L.K. Advani, who have launched a scathing attack on the party leadership following its disastrous performance in the Bihar Assembly polls.

Bihar poll debacle discussed

According to sources, Mr. Shah spent 45 minutes with Mohan Bhagwat and Bhaiyyaji Joshi at the workshop and they are understood to have discussed the happenings in the party after the Bihar poll debacle.

‘Routine meeting’

“Amitbhai paid a visit to meet Mohan Bhagwant and others at the workshop where 270 pracharaks from across the country are present,” said RSS Gujarat spokesperson Pradip Jain, who termed it a “routine meeting.”

“Since Amitbhai was here in Gujarat with his family for Diwali and New Year, he went to Kutch to seek blessings of RSS leaders who are also present in Kutch,” a top aide of Mr. Shah said.

Ms. Bharti also spent the entire day with Mr. Bhagwat and Mr. Joshi and other pracharaks gathered at a Swaminarayan Gurukul in Mandvi town of Kutch district.
