Claiming that the BJP will sweep the Assembly by-polls in 10 seats of Bihar, party national spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain on Sunday said the coming together of JD(U), RJD and the Congress for the by-elections is a proof of the “growing strength of BJP” in the State.
“Their alliance is a proof of the fact that the BJP is now the strongest party in Bihar and they do not have the capacity to contest against it on their own. They don’t have the courage to do so. This is why they have formed an alliance,” Mr. Hussain told reporters at the party headquarters here.
He said it was laughable to see former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and RJD chief Lalu Prasad eating their words that they have spoken against each other in the Assembly, as well as, public rallies.
“But the BJP is steadfast on what it said. The RJD regime was ‘jungle raj’ and the coming together of Mr. Kumar, Mr. Prasad and the Congress is ‘jungle raj -- 2’. Our party will tackle it in full measure,” Mr. Hussain added.
The BJP spokesperson said his party will win all 10 Assembly seats where the by-elections will be held on August 21.
Talking about seat sharing by the NDA partners in the by-polls, he said talks are going on and the names of candidates will be announced soon.
Narkatiaganj, Rajnagar (SC), Jale, Chapra, Hajipur, Mohiuddinagar, Parbatta, Bhagalpur, Banka and Mohania (SC) are the 10 seats that are going to polls.
Five of these seats fell vacant mid-term after their representatives were elected to the Lok Sabha recently. The rest became vacant due to resignations.
