A 14-year-old class nine student was found murdered in a private school in Vadodara on Friday, in a brutal reminder of the killing of a seven-year-old boy in a private school in Haryana’s Gurugram last year.

The Vadodara student was found stabbed in the bathroom. A knife that was allegedly used for the attack was also found.

Police rushed to the spot as soon as the incident was reported to the city control room. As per the preliminary investigation, police suspect that it was committed by a senior from class 10 with whom the victim had an altercation.

The police have launched a probe and are looking for the senior, who is absconding.

“Probe is underway in the incident,” said the school authorities in a statement.

“We have learnt about an altercation and a minor fight between two students on Thursday. That incident was probably the motivation for the murder but we are ascertaining all facts,” a local police official said, adding that they were looking at the CCTV footage and other security arrangements on the school premises.

The victim had joined the school only recently. His parents live in the neighbouring Anand district while he stayed with his aunt in the city.
