The authorities and the management of Chennai Silks and Sri Kumaran Thangamaligai are exploring options to retrieve gold jewellery weighing approximately 400 kg from the safety locker that is stuck in the debris, according to sources.

According to police sources, approximately ₹ 20 crore worth diamonds were inside the jewellery shop that is located on the ground floor.

A few jewellers said the safety locker could withstand any natural calamity or major fire. Hence, there is the possibility that the gold and diamond jewellery can be retrieved.

Sources added that preliminary investigation also revealed that ₹80 crore worth of textiles were destroyed and the owners have insured the building and the material.
