A health camp set up by the Chennai Corporation behind Chennai Silks in T. Nagar saw 131 cases on Thursday. On Wednesday, when the camp was set up, three patients came for check-up.

“Most of the patients on Thursday were those working in nearby establishments and local residents. They came in with general ailments including cold, headache, and high blood pressure and were given medication. We did not have any cases of burns or respiratory problems,” said E. Saraswathy, additional city health officer of the civic body.

Seven teams

The camp, she said, had seven teams on Thursday morning and two teams in the afternoon.

A doctor will remain at night too. Additionally, paramedical staff visited homes on about 20 streets nearby and distributed around 500 masks.

“They also checked with residents to see if anyone was facing any health problems,” she said.

On Wednesday morning, one patient came with a small burn injury on his foot and was given an ointment, anti-inflammatory tablets and antibiotics.

Fall from tree

Another man fell from the branch of a tree and was brought in unconscious. He was sent in an ambulance to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital.

Another patient was brought in with a wound on the leg and was treated.

Masks were distributed to police and fire rescue personnel working at the site.
