In a series of raids on Saturday, Hero MotoCorp along with the Economic Offence Wing of the Delhi Police, raided some establishments in the Karol Bagh market and seized almost 70,000 items of critical replacement parts and counterfeit packaging materials and labels.

Hero MotoCorp, which is the country’s largest two-wheeler maker, said in a statement on Sunday that this was a part of its ongoing initiative to curb the menace of spurious parts.

According to industry estimates, the after sales market in the automotive industry is pegged at about USD 6 billion, of which 30-35 per cent are counterfeit products.

The raids were pursuant to orders passed by the High Court, Hero MotoCorp said, adding that the use of spurious parts can lead to severe repercussions in a vehicle, including vehicle failure and triggering a fire.

All original Hero Genuine Parts bear a Unique Parts Identification code. Customers can send this code to 9266171171 to confirm the genuineness of the part, the company added.
