Industry associations – the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Federation of Industry and Commerce in North East Region (FINER) -- on Friday hailed the victory of the BJP-led alliance in Assam and hoped the new dispensation would address key issues pertaining to sustainable development of the State and act as a stronger, futuristic and industry-friendly government.
The CII would work closely with the new government and become an active partner in its new journey, said CII NE Council chairman Sandipan Chakravortty in a press release here.
CII NE Council Co-Chairman Abhijit Barooah said the CII looked forward to faster reforms, ease of doing business, industrial development policies, infrastructure creation and hoped key sectors of the economy would strongly developed.
Agri and food-processing, power, environmental sustainability, connectivity, education and skill development are some of the sectors CII has targeted in Assam, he said.
The new government must encourage large scale investments from private sector in the entire agriculture value chain through promotion of balanced and integrated use of fertiliser, farm mechanisation, better input management and post-harvest technology, said CII Assam State Council vice-chairperson Jahnabi Phukan.
In another release, FINER chairman R. S. Joshi expected the new government would implement their Vision Document 2016-2025 in letter and spirit, and put the economy on the fast-track by meeting the aspirations of all sections of society.
Stating FINER plan to submit an economic agenda to the new government based on ground realities of the State and region, Mr. Joshi assured the new government of not only suggesting new policy initiatives, but also extending full cooperation for implementation of their policies.
FINER looked forward to the formation of a Chief Minister’s High Powered Economic Advisory Council consisting of people of high calibre on the lines of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council to timely address the key economic issues pertaining to the State, he said. - PTI
