'Sangeetha Choodamani' to be conferred on S. Sowmya

The Krishna Gana Sabha will confer the awards, 'Sangeetha Choodamani' on S. Sowmya and 'Acharya Choodamani' on Prof. Dr. Radha Venkatachalam on August 7, 2010.

Sri Krishna Gana Sabha celebrates the 55th Gokulashtami Sangeetha Utsavam (August to October 2010), the inauguration of which will take place on August 7, 6 p.m. Former chief election commissioner, T.S. Krishnamurthy, inaugurates the festival and confers the awards, 'Sangeetha Choodamani' on S. Sowmya and 'Acharya Choodamani' on Prof. Dr. Radha Venkatachalam. The awards carry a purse of Rs.1,00,000 and Rs. 50,000 respectively with a gold medal and a birudhu patra each. Prof. T.R. Subramanyam and Dr. V.V. Srivatsa felicitate. This will be followed by M. Narmadha's fusion concert, 'Ecstasy'. The Utsavam is organised in memory of P. Obul Reddy and Gnanamba.

Pavitrotsavam

The pavitrotsavam of Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple, Papanasam, was celebrated on July 25. Special homams, and thirumanjanam were performed on the occasion. Kodavasal Balasubramaniam delivered a special speech on King Rajaraja Chola and the Thanjavur Big Temple.
