Top seed Prajnesh Gunneswaran cruised past qualifier Renta Tokuda of Japan 6-2, 6-2 in the second round of the $162,480 Challenger tennis tournament here on Wednesday.
In doubles, Saketh Myneni and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan made the quarterfinals, while Sriram Balaji and Vishnu Vardhan lost their way from a winning position against Hiroki Moriya and Goncalo Oliveira.
In the Challenger in France, Ramkumar Ramanathan lost to Daniel Masur of Germany in the second round of singles after a bye, but made the doubles quarterfinals with Evgeny Karlovskiy of Russia, past fourth seeds, the Sabanov twins from Croatia, Ivan and Matej.
In the $60,000 ITF women’s event in China, Rutuja Bhosale beat Meiqi Guo of China in three sets to set up a pre-quarterfinal against top seed Nina Stojanovic of Serbia.
