India’s chief National badminton coach P. Gopi Chand says the highlight of the badminton contingent’s performance is winning the mixed team gold.

“Beating Malaysia is truly remarkable. Overall, it has been a very good performance by the Indian shuttlers. Each one of them has done really well,” he said.

“Saina and Sindhu clashing in the women’s final was the icing on the cake. I saw only the final stages of the match and it looked anybody’s game. But it was Saina who held her own to emerge the winner.

“Srikanth’s silver was equally creditable and the doubles combinations doing well was a real positive,” Gopi said.
