A point to prove: Sandeep Narwal, centre, sees a bigger role for allrounders henceforth.

Allrounder Sandeep Narwal is U Mumba’s key player in the ProKabaddi League Season-7.

Credited with 200 league points so far, the Sonepat sensation is growing in reputation as a brilliant defender and useful attacker.

The vice-captain, focused on bringing excitement to home fans during the Mumbai leg (U Mumba won one and lost one in the opening leg at Hyderabad and faces Puneri Paltan here on Saturday), spoke to The Hindu . Excerpts:

What can Mumbai fans expect from Sandeep Narwal in the second leg?

U Mumba will demonstrate something different this season.

Fans can expect something special when I am on a raid or lending my hand in defence.

After raiders and defenders ruled the previous seasons, will allrounders call the shots in future?

The allrounder’s role is being talked about.

All teams have begun to realise the importance of allrounders.

Earlier, raiders called the shots, then teams with good defenders did well over the last two seasons.

Goals in mind for the season ahead

Team result is more important than personal highs. Getting two tackle or raid points and ending up on the winning side is equal to 200 points.

Raiders usually end up contributing more points than catchers, I will try to deliver expected from me in both halves.
