Local boy and favourite Sahaj Grover carved out a much-needed victory over Tamil Nadu's G. Akash in the 11th and final round to win the National sub-junior boys' chess title at the Kulachi Hansraj Model School here on Sunday.
Sahaj, a former World under-10 champion and the only International Master in the field, finished with 9.5 points, half a point clear of Girish Koushik who drew with Anurag Mhamal. Girish, who started the final day in joint lead with Sahaj, was better off in case of a tie for the title with the Delhi boy.
