Parth third and fifth in Pilota series

July 09, 2012 01:09 am | Updated 01:09 am IST - KOCHI:

After taking the third spot on Friday in the Formula Pilota China Series, Pune’s Parth Ghorpade finished ninth in the next race, a short eight-lap run, and then ended the Ordos leg with a fifth spot in the last 14-lap race in China on Saturday.

The other Indian in the fray, Bangalore’s Raj Bharat, finished fifth in the first two races and eighth in the last race.

With Japan’s Shota Kiyohara, who won the first three Formula Pilota rounds in Shanghai, staying away from Ordos as they clashed with his other engagemments, Britain’s Dan Wells won the two long races here while host China’s Yin Hai Tao walked away with the shorter second race — the fifth round of the championship.

The next three rounds will also be held in Ordos later this month.
