Manchester United made it two wins from two games with a comfortable 3-0 win over Tottenham in the Premier League on Monday.

Tottenham, seeking a first win at Old Trafford since 1989, kept the scoreline blank in the first half, with American goalkeeper Brad Friedel marking his Spurs debut with a full-stretch save from Tom Cleverley’s well-struck shot.

Danny Welbeck broke the deadlock in the 61st when he headed in Cleverley’s precise right-wing cross before Welbeck set up Brazilian midfielder Anderson to score the second goal in the 76th.

Wayne Rooney’s header wrapped up the win in the 87th to leave United on six points from two games. Tottenham was playing its first game of the season after its opener was postponed in the wake of the London riots.
