The Pailan Arrows (formerly Indian Arrows) coach Desmond Bulpin has been released by the All India Football Federation owing to unsatisfactory results.
The English coach, who had a contract till December, is the second to go after national coach Bob Houghton as the AIFF has lately come to disapprove of the ‘antiquated' long-ball approach practiced by the Englishmen. Colm Toal, who has recently been made the chief coach of youth development, remains the only foreign coach in business.
“The young boys were initiated into the old style of playing long-passes, which our national coach Armando Colaco, among others, feel is far removed from the short-passing game in the modern approach,” revealed a senior AIFF official.
Sujit Chakraborty, who holds an AFC A licence, will replace Bulpin in the AIFF's youth team, while former national coach Sukhwinder Singh is the technical director of the team.
The AIFF, which is looking for a national technical director to coordinate all its development and team-building process, is expecting finalise a name in the first week of September when a FIFA team visits the national federation.
