Wisden India Almanack launched

December 30, 2012 02:10 am | Updated 02:10 am IST - CHENNAI:

It was an evening that delightfully weaved together the past and the present.

The launch of the Wisden India Almanack on Saturday had in attendance former and current cricketers and eminent cricket writers. The first copy of the Almanack was received by N. Srinivasan, President, Board of Control for Cricket in India, from Anand S. Krishnan, Executive Chairman of Fidelis World and Chairman of Wisden India.

“It’s an honour to receive the first edition. In the days when the electronic media was not there, the written word was the only way we could learn about the game. And for us, Wisden was cricket,” said Srinivasan.

Virat Kohli, who has been featured on the cover along with former India captain and fellow-cricketer of the year Rahul Dravid, was presented with a copy of the Almanack. Also present was India’s captain M.S. Dhoni and R. Ashwin.

The release was followed by a panel discussion, involving former cricketers C.D. Gopinath, Ravi Shastri, Sourav Ganguly, and N. Ram, former editor-in-chief of The Hindu . The interactive session was moderated by Suresh Menon and Dileep Premachandran of Wisden India.
