Rain robs teams of practice

September 21, 2011 02:38 am | Updated 02:38 am IST - Chennai:

Overnight rain led to the cancellation of all practice sessions and the practice match scheduled between Chennai Super Kings and Tamil Nadu Combined XI, here on Tuesday.

New South Wales Blues, Cape Cobras, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, all of whom have pitched camped in Chennai, were denied any practice-time as a gloomy day put paid to any hopes of the outfield drying enough to permit action.

NSW Blues, Cape Cobras and Mumbai Indians were scheduled for a few hours of practice at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium during the day, while CSK was pencilled in for a practice match under lights later in the evening.

NSW Blues, winner of the first edition of the Champions League T20, will take on Cape Cobras in the first match of Group A on Saturday, while defending champion CSK will face-off with fellow IPL club Mumbai Indians under lights the same day.
