South African coach Corrie van Zyl says Indian Premier League provides nine members of the national squad a good preparation for next month’s Twenty20 World Cup in the West Indies.
Currently training with only three of national squad players, Van Zyl said it was “not ideal” with just a week in between the IPL final and start of T20 World Cup but said the nine players will have enough preparation before going to the West Indies.
South African captain Graeme Smith is one of the three players currently with van Zyl, after he came back home with a finger injury while playing for Rajasthan Royals.
The IPL final is on April 25 and the Proteas play their first Twenty20 World Cup match in the West Indies on April 2.
