M.S. Dhoni hinted that India would avoid complacency when it clashes with the West Indies in the Test series.
“They have some good fast bowlers and Devendra Bishoo, being a leg-spinner, gets bounce. Overall the West Indies is a good unit and we will not take them lightly,” the India captain said.
Dhoni also said his young bowlers had the ability to cope well with the longer format.
“Two will make their debuts. If you see the bowlers who will play, they all have played the ODI format and so they have a fair amount of exposure when it comes to international cricket. They are looking in good shape,” he said.
The skipper said it would be better to talk about Sachin Tendulkar's 100th international century after the maestro reaches the mark. He also remarked that the “pitch looks good.”
Biggest test
His counterpart Darren Sammy said: “This (tour) should be the biggest test for us and for me as captain as well. We prepared well for this series. We had a two-week camp in Barbados, trained at the Centre of Excellence in Dubai and also had success in Bangladesh,” the West Indies captain said.
Sammy expressed hope that his bowlers would continue their good work.
“In Fidel Edwards and Kemar Roach, we have two of the quickest bowlers at the moment. Over the last year, the bowlers have worked with coach Ottis Gibson, and have been able to bowl out sides twice in Test matches. We expect to continue with what we did against India in the Caribbean. Let our pace do the talking and we have Bishoo to complement that,” the West Indies skipper said.
