Kaushal hits first double in Hazare Trophy

Uttarakahand opener Karn Veer Kaushal entered the record books, scoring the first double century in the Hazare Trophy, smashing 202 off 135 balls, to star in his team’s 199-run rout of Sikkim in a Plate group match here on Saturday.

The in-form Kaushal, who has scored three hundreds in seven matches, eclipsed Ajinkya Rahane’s 187 for Mumbai against Maharashtra in Pune in 2007-08.

Elite: At Bengaluru: Group A: Karnataka 257 for eight (R. Samarth 98, Manish Pandey 43, Aniruddha Joshi 42, Rishi Dhawan three for 57) bt Himachal 162 in 25.3 overs (Prashant Chopra 67, T. Pradeep four for 35, K. Gowtham four for 26). Karnataka won by 35 runs on VJD method.

Railways 226 for eight in 50 overs (Saurabh Wakaskar 57, Manish Rao 30, Avinash Yadav 33 n.o., Madhur Khatri 58, Darshan Nalkande three for 42) lost to Vidarbha 176 for three in 37 overs (Akshay Kolhar 41, Ganesh Satish 53 n.o., Akshay Wadkar 49 n.o.). Vidarbha won by 15 runs on VJD method.

Mumbai vs Maharashtra - match abandoned owing to rain.

At New Delhi: Group B: Saurashtra 110 in 34.4 overs (Arpit Vasavada 34, Sumit Ruikar six for 26) lost to Chhattisgarh 111 for one in 24.2 overs (Rishabh Tiwari 56 n.o., Manoj Singh 36 n.o.).

Uttar Pradesh 330 for four in 50 overs (Akshdeep Nath 119 n.o., Samarth Singh 115 n.o., Suresh Raina 52) lost to Andhra 331 for nine in 49.3 overs (D.B. Ravi Teja 79 n.o., Ashwin Hebbar 64, K. Sumanth 43, Karn Sharma 43, Akshdeep Nath three for 44).

Odisha 247 for eight in 50 overs (Govinda Poddar 93, Subhransu Senapati 41, Abhishek Raut 34, Biplab Samantaray 31, C.V. Milind six for 43) lost to Hyderabad 250 for nine in 49.2 overs (Tanmay Agarwal 76, Akshath Reddy 63, K. Sumanth 43 n.o., Pappu Roy three for 38).

Plate: At Anand: Mizoram 100 in 42.3 overs (Taruwar Kohli 33, Inakato Zhimomi three for eight, Imilwati Lemtur three for 24) lost to Nagaland 102 for two in 12.5 overs (Nitesh Lochab 49 n.o.).

At Nadiad: Uttarakhand 366 for two in 50 overs (Karn Veer Kaushal 202, Vineet Saxena 100) bt Sikkim 167 for six in 50 overs (Lee Yong Lepcha 65, Padam Limboo 51 n.o., Deepak Dhapola three for 19).
