New South Wales Blues skipper Simon Katich spent Wednesday evening interacting with prospective students of the University of Western Australia (UWA), at a function organised at Taj Connemara here.
Katich, an alumnus of the university, said his recommendation was based on first-hand experience. “I have studied there and I know how great the campus is. It is a wonderful place to develop as an individual and build one's career,” he said.
Moving to cricket, the former Australian opener said the challenge for overseas teams in the Champions League T20 was to come to grips with Indian conditions.
“The ball seems to keep low here and spin is the order of the day. We played a practice game at Chepauk and that was helpful. Since we have three good spinners in the squad, we will not be afraid to experiment,” he revealed.
Katich admitted that his team's opening fixture against Cape Cobras, on Saturday, was a tough one as it aims to regain the trophy it won in 2009.
“They (Cobras) are a great outfit and we have our work cut out. Some of the players in our squad have IPL experience, while the others are watching videos to learn more about rival teams,” he said.
