Challenger Trophy: Deepti does it for India Red

Deepti Sharma’s all-round effort (two for 15 and 45 not out) secured India Red a win over India Blue in a rain-curtailed women’s senior Challenger Trophy match at the Alur ground, near here, on Tuesday.

Chasing 101, Red had reached 79 for three in 16.3 overs when rain interrupted the match. With no further play possible, the team was declared the winner as it was ahead by seven runs on VJD method. For Blue, Mithali Raj top-scored with 51.

The scores: India Blue 100 for eight in 20 overs (Mithali Raj 51, T.P. Kanwer two for 16, Deepti Sharma two for 15) lost to India Red 79 for three in 16.3 overs (Deepti Sharma 45 n.o.), on VJD Method.
