Afghanistan’s Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah will be Kabul’s official representative to witness his country’s Test debut on Thursday, while the Indian side would be represented by Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the match is a sign of India-Afghanistan friendship and demonstrated ‘indomitable Afghan spirit’.

“India takes pride in being shoulder-to-shoulder with Afghanistan in this journey. The people of India have shared the joy of millions of Afghans at the success of their players in tournaments in India and elsewhere,” said Mr. Modi in a statement.
