We need to play the key moments well

More than any other tournament in the world the IPL is about momentum. Winning streaks and losing streaks tend to last for three or four games and can be hard to break.

Kolkata Knight Riders have lost a couple of games and we have to turn things around although that is easier said than done. We need to identify the key moments in every match and play them better than the opposition.

Decisive moments don't just come at the end of the game sometimes they come in the middle of the innings or even right at the very beginning.

Like all the other teams we emphasis the importance of all 120 balls in each innings but, none the less, there are some moments which are more important than others.

If a quick scoring opener makes a flying start against you then the key is moments could be in the fourth or fifth over of the innings.

Four tough games

Fortunately we have had some time away from the game for the last few days and that might help with a change in fortunes.

We have four tough games in quick succession and if we can win three out of four of them we will once again be in an excellent position as we head in to the last couple of weeks of the qualifying stage.

My partner, Shamoné, joined me a couple of days ago and she has certainly lifted my spirits as we head towards the knockout stages. Sham loves India and her enthusiasm for the country and so many aspects of life here is infectious.

Stiff back

Unfortunately we haven't yet visited any markets or done any of the exploring which she enjoys because I have been confined to the hotel trying to shake off a bout of flu and recover from the stiff back which has prevented me from bowling in the last couple of games.

I had an unexpected highlight of this year's tournament a couple of nights ago when I heard one of my teammates sing karaoke for the first time.

Brett Lee's musical prowess is well known, of course, but I thought it was confined mostly to the guitar. It was hard to believe such a fierce fast bowler could sing so sweetly. He has the voice of an angel!
