The Sri Lankan cricket team on Monday had their first practice session at the MCA Recreation Centre here after arriving on Sunday for the three-match Test series.

The visitors faced local bowlers and the bowling machines, besides having fielding drills for over three hours.

The bowlers, led by off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan, also had net sessions for a brief period.

The visitors will begin their campaign with a three-day game against the Board President’s XI, led by Rohit Sharma, starting on November 11 here. The opening Test starts in Ahmedabad on November 16.

The second and third Tests are to be held in Kanpur (November 24-November 28) and Mumbai (December 2-December 6).

India beat Sri Lanka 2-0 the last time the two teams met in the country in a three-match Test series in 2005-06.
