CAB prefers to wait and watch

January 04, 2017 09:00 pm | Updated 09:00 pm IST - KOLKATA:

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) is not taking any step in haste following the Supreme Court order which rendered many State association office-bearers ineligible on the ground of not meeting the Justice Lodha Committee criteria.

After an office-bearers’s meeting here on Wednesday, CAB president Sourav Ganguly informed that an emergent working committee meeting would be held on Monday where the date of the special general meeting (SGM) would be decided.

Due to the lack of clarity, the present office-bearers who do not meet the Lodha Committee criteria have preferred to wait and watch for some time.

“Nothing has been decided (on the fate of the office-bearers). We will get to know more on this in the next few days,” said a senior office-bearer.

Before initiating the process to adopt Lodha Committee reforms, the CAB faces the challenge of conducting the third One-Day International between India and England at the Eden Gardens on January 22.

So far the CAB has started the online sale of tickets and will open ticket counters for the public on January 16 and 17. — Special Correspondent
