Electronics maker Samsung unveiled its latest addition on Wednesday to its smartphone line, Galaxy Alpha.
The less than 7 mm, super thin smartphone has a metal frame, the company said. It features a 4.7-inch High-Definition display, which is a little smaller than Samsung’s flagship Galaxy 5.
Samsung Chief Executive J.K. Shin praised the new design of the device: “The Galaxy Alpha focuses on both beauty and functionality.”
The device is equipped with a 12-megapixel main camera and a 2.1-megapixel front camera, according to the statement.
The announcement comes only weeks before Apple is expected to announce its iPhone 6, which is thought to offer a 4.7-inch display.
The Galaxy Alpha will be available fromSeptember, Samsung said.
