A weighty problem

States like Gujarat and T.N. have the highest ration of unhealthy (overweight or underweight) people in overall population, while the north-eastern States are relatively healthier.

But the healthiest States also experienced a greater increase in their own over/underweight population since a decade ago.

 

Note: Unhealthiness of the population is calculated based on Body Mass Index (BMI) of individuals in the 15-49 age bracket. People who are either underweight (BMI < 18.5 kg/m2) or overweight (BMI ≥ 25.0 kg/m2) are considered unhealthy
