That one of the recipients of this year’s Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine is Tu Youyou, a researcher in traditional Chinese medicine, should be of special interest to medical researchers in India (“ >Revolutionary therapiesNobel Prize 2015, William C. Campbell, Satoshi Ōmura, Youyou Tu ,” Oct.7). Ms. Youyou’s work shows that ancient remedies documented in traditional texts can, after careful research, yield life-saving drugs to address the contemporary health challenges. This should serve as an eye-opener to Indian researchers for a more serious scientific exploration of Ayurveda.
