A knowledge in traditional medicine being used to find such a drug effective enough to win a Nobel should be an eye-opener to our health authorities (“ >Revolutionary therapies ,” Oct.7). This year’s literature Nobel is unique as a journalist has been chosen — a recognition long due that has treated reportage as a form of literature equivalent to fiction, poetry and drama. (“ >Journalist wins literature Nobel ,” Oct.9) The Nobel Academy observed that the language of investigative reporter Svetlana Alexievich forms a refreshing new literary form where the framework of strict journalistic reporting has been breached to make it more novelistic.
