Fourteen years of magical moments have come to an end (editorial “Close of a story, end of an era,” July 11). I've been a Harry Potter fan for as long as I can remember. Fiction is something we HP fans will never call the series — it was real in one way or the other. A true Potter fan will definitely shed some tears when the last moment of the last scene of the last movie is over. But we'll remember him for the rest of our lives. Thank you, J.K. Rowling.

I read my first Harry Potter book at the age of 12 in 2006. Interestingly enough, it was the second book in the series — The Chamber of Secrets . What followed would make my parents regret that they bought the book for me. So engrossed was I in Pottermania that I read up to the fifth book — Order of the Phoenix — in six months and waited for book number six. And read I would many, many times. It soon got to the point where my mother had to hide the books so that I would not fancy re-reading the events such as the triwizard tournament (it started cutting into my study-time).
It would be repetitive for me to say that I grew up with Harry, Ron and Hermione. It was with a heavy heart that I started reading Deathly Hallows again so that I would not miss anything on July 15. When I finished the book, it struck me how close the end was — the end of an era of chocolate frogs, trips to Hogsmeade and sneaking around the castle at night.
