Whatever he does is from the heart. So when cricketer Sachin Tendulkar decided to bat for a cause, it was with the same heartfelt purpose that he applies to his game. Explaining why he chose to spend time with kids at a coaching camp, Tendulkar said his little daughter was the inspiration.

“On her birthday, she wanted to spend time with the kids at the Govandi slums. She made me think. Everybody spends money on charities but what about giving time? I thought that she was right, so I decided to do just that.”

He added that donating money for a cause was an easier option, while spending time with people was a bigger idea, something that demanded more effort. “I decided that I would donate my time,” said he.

While he is not keen to publicise his charitable ventures, Tendulkar certainly handles more than his share and admits that it is his daughter, who inspires him to do so.
