1. BJP alleges security lapse during PM Modi’s July visit

Tamil Nadu BJP president K. Annamalai who called on Governor R.N. Ravi at Raj Bhavan submitted a memorandum to Mr. Ravi alleging major security lapse during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Chennai on July 28 for the inaugural of 44th Chess Olympiad.

While speaking to journalists on his meeting, Mr. Annamalai said the Centre has written to Tamil Nadu government stating that that many of the metal detectors were non-functional during the Prime Minister’s visit.

In his memorandum, the BJP leader also mentioned that the problem prevails in other places of strategic importance, such as temples, monuments and sought the Governor to conduct an independent audit of the same.

2. Ragging at Vellore CMC | Three more students suspended, additional CCTVs to be fixed

Submitting a status report at the Madras High Court, the management of Christian Medical College, Vellore said additional CCTV cameras would be fixed to curb ragging incidents in future. The college also informed that three more students have been suspended besides seven others who were placed in suspension earlier.

The Court thus closed its suo motu public interest litigation petition on the ragging of medical students at the college premises that was first heard on November 14.

3. Opposition tries to create law and order problems: CM Stalin

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin who took part in a government function at Ariyalur charged that the Opposition parties had been trying to create law and order problems in the State so as to defame his government.

Referring to the petition presented to Governor R.N. Ravi against the DMK government by the AIADMK leadership a few days ago, Mr. Stalin alleged that former Chief Minister Edapadi K. Palaniswami had done nothing concrete to protect State rights and to accelerate growth when he was at the helm of affairs. But he was trying to bring disrepute to the DMK government, Mr. Stalin said.
