Indian govt proposed Reliance Defence as partner in Rafale: French media quoting Hollande

In a significant development, a French media report quoted former French President Francois Hollande as purportedly saying that the Indian government proposed Reliance  Defence  as the partner for Dassault Aviation in the ₹58,000 crore Rafale jet fighter deal and France did not have a choice.

India calls off New York meeting with Pakistan

India called off a meeting between External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj with her Pakistani counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi in New York, the Ministry of External Affairs said.

Five Lashkar militants killed in J&K’s Bandipora district, say police

Five Lashkar-e-Taiba militants who recently infiltrated into  Jammu and Kashmir  were killed in an encounter on September 21, police said.

The encounter took place at Sumlar area in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district. Police said the five had crossed the Line of Control recently and were on their way to other parts of the Kashmir Valley.
