Wahengbam Nipamacha passes away

The former Manipur Chief Minister, Wahengbam Nipamacha, 80, passed away here on Tuesday. He is survived by his wife.

He had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences here, some days ago. The body was cremated in the afternoon with full state honours. Mr. Nipamacha, known for industry and straight talk, had also served as Speaker of the Assembly and Minister. Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh and his Cabinet colleagues and various leaders have condoled the death.
