Security forces on Thursday launched a massive anti-militancy operation at multiple places in south Kashmir’s Shopian district but their efforts were being hampered by stone-pelting mobs. The operations have been launched in six villages falling under Zainapora area in Shopian after security forces received information about movement of militants there, a police official said.

A Bench comprising Chief Justice J.S. Khehar and Justices D.Y. Chandrachud and S.K. Kaul issued notice to Kerala and fixed the plea of Tamil Nadu for hearing in the second week of July.
The Bombay High Court on Thursday rejected a CBI plea seeking death sentence for at least three of the 11 convicts in the March 2002 Bilkis Bano gang rape case in Gujarat. The court also set aside the acquittal of seven person in the same case and directed the Central Bureau of Investigation agency to probe them.
