In a shocking incident, a woman died on her farm worried over the prospect of losing land. The incident took place at Railapur village in Ramayampet mandal on Sunday.

According to sources, P. Budemma (60) was having about 20 guntas of land. She had been making a living on the land, in addition to working as a labourer, and taking care of her two grandchildren — Vishnu Deepika and Vamshi. Land was being acquired for Kaleshwaram canals at the village and, recently, revenue officials had visited the village and begun to take measurements of lands.

Budemma was expected to lose about 18 guntas of her land. Worried over this, she spent all day on her field on Sunday and collapsed, locals said. She died while being shifted to a hospital. The last rites were performed on Monday.
