Vemulaghat villagers seek complete DPR, time to study it

In a new twist to the ongoing agitation, farmers of Vemulaghat dashed another letter to the Land Acquisition Officer and Revenue Divisional Officer A. Muthaym Reddy demanding that they be provided complete copy of the detailed project report (DPR) of Mallannasagar.

About 10 days ago, on August 13th, the RDO held personal hearing of the Mallannasagar oustees from Vemulaghat village who were demanding implementation of the Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act (LA Act- 2013).

During the meeting the villagers have pointed out that the DPR supplied to them was not comprehensive.

They have also stated that they were yet to get supplied with fourth portion of the DPR which contains the maps of the project and questioned the rationality behind providing wrong information over Kondapochamma reservoir. They have also recalled that officials have admitted in the meeting, held for personal hearing, that the complete copy of the DPR was not submitted.

“The Court has directed you provide at least 15 copies of the DPR in Telugu and 15 copies of other documents for us at our panchayat office. We have honoured the court direction and attended personal hearing though you have failed to provide the fourth volume of the DPR. Five copies of the fourth volume were kept at panchayat office on August 19th but we were not informed about last date for submitting our objections. We need sufficient time to go through these copies and understand the content,” said the villagers in a memorandum submitted to the RDO on Thursday.

“Do not take any steps till our objections were addressed based on the complete DPR which was yet to be supplied by you. We request you to supply the earliest and inform us the last date for submitting objections,” the villagers said.
