What is caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao doing these days in the absence of official work after dissolution of the Assembly on September 6?

The question was on the lips of many people who were keen on having a peep into his routine in the last fortnight when, excepting addressing a public meeting at Husnabad, he was not heard of.

It is interesting to know that he is penning a couple of songs and slogans which he planned to use widely in election campaign.

Cultural strategy

The cultural artistes were also said to be rehearsing performance for the songs at his farm house in Erravelli where Mr. Rao has mostly camped all these days, solely to concentrate on his election strategies.

Mr. Rao had penned quite a few lyrics in the past and one of his song “garadi chestundru, gadibidi chestundru, gundiki digutundru, hey mondiki potundru...” was played in Jai Bolo Telangana film which was released during the peak of separate Telangana movement in 2011. Chakri was the composer of music while Jagapati Babu and, now Union Minister Smriti Irani, were in lead roles. He also wrote lyrics for a song in Telangana based movie `Kolimi’. Sources said Mr. Rao was personally coining the slogans to attract the public. He was trying out various programmes to reach out to the public on the difference separate Telangana has made. He has left it to TRS leaders to counter the charges of Opposition parties.

Mobile vans

Apart from slogans and songs, Mr. Rao is also focussed on deployment of mobile vans for electioneering in all constituencies. They were said to be procured from Guntur in a big way. Some of them have already reached the candidates who are sure to contest the elections. They contain information on government programmes and a huge picture of Mr. Rao.

Already, the TRS has ordered supply of party flags and scarves to all villages in a big way. Lakhs of pamphlets on welfare programmes of the government were under preparation for distribution at every doorstep.

Mr. Rao has also been contacting the candidates over the phone and giving them tips to follow in electioneering. He recently spoke to candidate at Kothagudem Jalagam Venkat Rao to get feedback on the viral fevers that were rampant in the agency of the constituency.
