Three youths, including an M.Tech student, were detained by the police at the Kothagudem bus stand on Wednesday evening on the suspicion of proceeding to the “strife-torn” areas of neighbouring Chhattisgarh.
The three were bound over in the presence of Tahsildar in the coal town on Thursday.
Their detention was kept a closely guarded secret until they were bound over before the Mandal Executive Magistrate on Thursday.
When contacted, Kothagudem one-town circle inspector of police M Ramesh said Vijay, an M Tech student of Karimnagar district, Suman, a Post-Graduate in Sociology of Khammam district, and Prabhakar, a Post-Graduate in Science, of Warangal district were detained while moving under suspicious circumstances on Wednesday evening.
Their antecedents were verified on the suspicion that they were proceeding to the “Maoist-affected” areas in Chhattisgarh to meet some persons, he said, adding that they were bound over to the Mandal Executive Magistrate under section 108 of the CrPC.
